Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?

Overall, my experience at BAE Systems has been positive. I’ve learned a lot in my Cloud and Infrastructure Graduate role and gained hands-on experience with real projects. The team is supportive and helpful, which made it easier to develop my skills and confidence. It’s been a good place to grow professionally.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

My main responsibilities as a Cloud and Infrastructure Graduate include supporting cloud-based systems, helping with infrastructure tasks, and assisting in maintaining and improving existing platforms. I also take part in troubleshooting issues, learning new technologies, and contributing to ongoing projects within the team.
The part I enjoy most is working on real projects and gaining hands-on experience. I also enjoy learning new tools and technologies, especially in cloud environments, and working with a supportive team that helps me grow my skills and confidence.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
I would rate the development of my skills quite highly. Through both formal training and my day-to-day role, I’ve been able to build on my existing knowledge and learn new skills, especially in cloud and infrastructure.
As I’m on a rotation, I’ve also had the chance to work with different teams, which has been really helpful. Each team has its own processes and ways of working, so it’s allowed me to adapt, learn different approaches, and gain a broader understanding of how things are done across the organisation.
Overall, it’s been a good mix of structured learning and hands-on experience.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?

Yes

Why?

I would recommend BAE Systems to a friend because it offers a great balance of learning, opportunities, and work–life balance. As a graduate, you get good exposure to real projects and modern technologies, especially in areas like cloud and infrastructure.
The rotation programme is a big advantage, as it allows you to work with different teams and experience different ways of working. This helps you build a wider skill set and understand how the organisation operates as a whole.
There are also strong development opportunities, including formal training and support from experienced colleagues, which makes it a good place to grow your career.
In addition, the work–life balance is good, and the supportive team culture makes it an enjoyable environment to work in. Overall, it’s a great place to learn, gain experience, and develop professionally.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

5/5

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to BAE Systems?

My main advice would be to understand BAE Systems’ values and try to reflect them during the recruitment process. Things like teamwork, integrity, and innovation are really important, so giving examples of where you’ve shown these can make a big difference.
I would also say be open to learning and keep a positive mindset. You don’t need to know everything, but showing that you’re willing to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges is really important, especially for a graduate role.
For onboarding, I’d recommend asking questions and getting involved as much as possible. It helps you settle in quicker and make the most of the opportunities available.
