Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?

Good, scheme is not too flexible and more or less puts you straight into a role. But this can depend on the specific role that you get on the scheme

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

talking with different teams, being on-site and being hands-on with the engineering, having real responsibilities.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

4/5
Yes, my work has been viewed highly and welcomed by others, and helped raise the standards of other systems completing similar work.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

3/5
Feel slightly underpaid for the role, as my graduate role is to cover a more senior engineer before they relocated.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

4/5
I feel pigeonholed and not given much opportunity to try different areas.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

3/5
I've learnt the skills that I need for my role, but otherwise I've not been given the skills required to do anything other.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

3/5
Have to reach out for any support, others struggle to find time. This is due to tight deadlines and stretched workloads.

How is your work-life balance?

3/5
On-site days feel very long with the commute, tend to use my flexi-time to shorten my days at home to enjoy a better balance.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

4/5
It's difficult due to nature of the business, but we try and have social events but they aren't well attended.

How would you rate BAE Systems initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
A real mix of different cultures and backgrounds, no observed difference to those of different gender or culture.

How would you rate BAE Systems CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

4/5
Lots of activities to promote social and environmental aspects

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Good pay, decent jobs, stable career.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

4/5
Thought I would be more hands-on, but it is nearly what I expected.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to BAE Systems?

Clearer communication. Had to reach out to recruiter to chase the job.
