Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I work with different teams allowing me to have varied tasks. I am primarily office based with hands-on opportunities as well as training opportunities.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I have been given a good amount of responsibility during this placement. This has allowed me to strengthen workplace relationships and build trust in my team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have developed and trained skills in communication and leadership. I have been able to particularly work on my team work skills and show up for my team to achieve a common goal.
Being able to attend training sessions has also allowed me to learn completely new material in a lecture-style taught manner which has aided in my development in the business massively.

I received support and guidance throughout my entire placement. It was very easy to reach out to others via Teams or in the office. Whether it was more technical or practical, there was someone who could support/guide me in the right direction.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture encourages initiative and teamwork while also stretching each other in tasks. The ability to give recognition to each other with Impact Awards is indicative of the culture at this company.
It is also easy to collaborate with other teams and share ideas.

What advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems

I would say to consider the location of which BAE Systems site you are applying to. I have loved being in Glasgow and the opportunities it has given me as well as the community here at this particular location.
