Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at National Grid?

A good insight into the workings of an international corporate organisation. There are a few tweaks to iron-out regarding the graduate programme but on the whole it is a very well thought out experience, with lots of room to pursue different directions as you see fit.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

This is clearly dependent on the team you find yourself in, and therefore the people within that team, too. Responsibilities ranged from providing administrative support to senior consents managers through to self-driven projects to aid team efficiency or to signpost future areas of importance/research.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend National Grid to a friend?

Yes

Why?

National Grid opens the door to the electricity transmission and utilities industries. There are also a huge range of stakeholders and customers that National Grid works with, which can present innumerable opportunities for those unsure about what they would like to pursue. There is also a vast diversity of people who have come from different personal and professional backgrounds, which enhances the experience.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

3/5

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to National Grid?

During the recruitment process, it wasn't made entirely clear the role to be filled, or the finer details of that role. I would urge others to find out as much as they can about a role before taking it on - both how it contributes to the organisation and the nature of the work itself.
