Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I set and operate CNC machines, the batches are not huge so I see a different part each day / week. I also make sure that the machines are running correctly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The uni weeks are a fun change of pace and it feels great to be paid while I get a degree.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt a lot about how CNC machines work and how to set them (which I didn't know how to do before).
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There's been some big changes and work has been the busiest its ever been. It does mean we aren't short of things to do, but it makes finding time to be taught harder.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

If I have a question, it gets answered. If I need help doing something, I can ask anyone. If there are problems at uni, work sorts them out.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Uni has put on extra support sessions for difficult topics like maths.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Still early on in terms of learning through the uni, so I have mostly covered the foundation such as maths and electromechanical.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I haven't asked, however, I have heard that there is a dog walking group and a curry night.

Yes
Why?
The people are nice and it keeps you thinking, (it's not like sitting behind a desk and sending emails all day).
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Geometric Manufacturing LTD?
If you go to an interview day, be yourself. They don't bite.
