Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I work in the apprentice training academy, working on basics skills before I go out onto site.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I feel like there could be improvements on how the academy is run and how they treat apprentices.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
yes I have gained more knowledge about all trades. I had done another apprenticeship before this so had some basic skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
the structure is quite good in terms of what you are learning, the tasks are in order and you had only move onto the next when you have completed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
AWE is fortunate to have a whole team dedicated to teaching apprentices. There are monthly 1-2-1s to review progresses.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
AWE is also my training provider as the training is in house. The tasks we do are done to meet the EAL criteria but I feel like I don't actually gain the basic understandings of things such as electrical work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I can't give an accurate answer to this until I go onto site and implement the training we undertake.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are sports clubs attached to AWE but I don't use them.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend AWE to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel like the structure and content of the training is quite good but I would be tentative to suggest it to someone older as you are treated like a child sometimes.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AWE?
Be prepared to be waiting around for stuff to be marked and get through the prosesses.
