Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I play a key role in the day-to-day line management of the Resourcing Advisers, supporting the Talent and Resourcing Manager and deputising where appropriate.
I support my Manager with the design and development of the Talent and Resourcing Strategy for Staffordshire County Council and play a key role in bringing the strategy to life through driving the actions needed through the service delivery plan. I support the Adviser team to deliver a proactive, leading-edge talent and resourcing service and keep track of Adviser capacity, their progress with project / specific pieces of work and the general day to day management of their jobs in our applicant tracking system and all other related work, processes and systems.

Yes currently learning how to have a better self awareness and am using the different problem solving models that we've learnt on the course in my role.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Really well organised, great communication from the provider, course looks really well planned out so I can work with my manager to identify projects/work that is coming up that will provide me with some great opportunities to demonstrate the skills and knowledge I am learning on the course. Opportunities are also provided for students to stay in contact and support each other.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I couldn't ask for a more supportive employer who provide lots of support and encouragement.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider has been amazing, very accessible. Any concerns or worries I've had have been quickly addressed and given me lots of reassurance. They are really help my confidence to grwo.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Understanding the theory is giving me the confirmation I needed that I am making the right decisions. It's also helping me make quicker decisions and to be thinking more strategically. It;s also giving me tools and models that I can use to help the team have more self awareness and help us perform better as a team and deliver an even better service to manager and candidates.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We've been made aware of a fantastic residential opportunity in Wales in the summer which will be a great opportunity to bond outside of the work environment with other apprentices.

Yes
Why?
It is the most supportive organisation, very people focussed, very focussed on providing development opportunities for existing staff and great opportunities if you want to change direction in your career. They have lots of family friendly policies and the opportunity to work flexibly has been invaluable to me as a carer of an elderly parent and a mum.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Staffordshire County Council?
Don't hesitate to apply! If you're unsure if your skills/experience match the role you're interested in, get in contact with the hiring manager whose contact details are always on the job advert, and have have an informal chat. Make sure you create an account on their jobs site and then it' really easy to complete an application. Make sure you tailor your application to each job, and give examples in the supporting statement of how you have demonstrated the skills/knowledge/behaviors they're asking for in the advert.
