As a Social Care Assessor I am daily assessing individuals needs to see where I can help and support them and also having a positive impact on people’s lives, signposting, making referrals, putting in care, respite for a carer, dealing with carers assessment to our young carers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am currently in my final year of the Social Worker Apprenticeship programme with Staffordshire University, and the experience has been rewarding. I genuinely enjoy being a student while working in practice, as both roles balance each other and strengthen my learning. The apprenticeship route has opened many doors for me, allowing me to develop professionally while gaining real-world experience directly related to my studies.
One of the greatest benefits of the programme is the ability to learn on the job while maintaining a healthy work–life balance. Attending university alongside my employment has helped me connect theory to practice in a meaningful way.

I have had the opportunity to build strong relationships with fellow apprentices, lecturers, and colleagues across different teams. Learning from others—through shared experiences, reflective discussions, and group work—has been a key part of my growth.

The programme is very organised and the level of support available has made a significant difference. It is been very clear structured all throughout the programme, making it a smooth journey being on the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer provide guidance, encouragement, and resources that help me stay motivated and confident. Knowing that support is always available offers reassurance throughout the more demanding periods of the course
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a good level of support from my training provider. This includes regular contact with my tutor, clear guidance on assignments, timely feedback, and support when I need clarification or extra help. Overall, the support helps me stay on track with my qualification and feel confident in meeting the required standards.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The Social Worker Apprenticeship programme as helped me perform and develop my knowledge, build practical skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the role.

Yes, there are some extra‑curricular opportunities available at work. These mainly include team‑building and social activities, occasional staff wellbeing events, and opportunities to take part in professional networking, training days, or forums related to my role.
While there may not be formal sports teams, there is encouragement to engage in activities that support team morale, collaboration, and professional development, which helps build positive working relationships and share best practice across teams.
