Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work as an apprentice mainly on the shop floor where production takes place. On a day-to-day basis, my role include, setting and operating a 3 and 5 Axis CNC machines as well as carrying out quality inspections using measuring equipment to make sure finished parts meet the customer's requirement.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Overall I have found my programme to be an interesting and rewarding experience. Daily hands-on practical work keeps me engaged as I put my skills to use while also developing it with the help of experienced engineers.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have gained experience in CNC machining and quality checks while also improving my attention to detail and time management.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is organised effectively by balancing hands-on work with theoretical learning. Expectations and deadlines are given and made clear which makes my tasks straightforward.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a fair support from my employer. My line manager is approachable and willing to assist. When required, I am given resources to complete both practical work and coursework effectively.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider offers a good level of support. Regular feedback and guidance are provided which helps me understand what is needed to progress with my qualifications.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel my qualifications have a positive impact on the role. The knowledge I gain through my training provider directly relates to my everyday tasks, helping me achieve my role with better understanding.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Extracurricular activities are limited. The most recent or upcoming activity is a week of manual machining training which will be a valuable opportunity to develop my skills further. There was also coolant training session which was also important.
