Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
In my role I log into computers remotely to solve ticketed issues that were logged on our site. I fix a variety of issues such as event flows, clusters and cluster storage, server backups, ordering hardware replacements, clearing out drives. I have also recently just started planned outages

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I have loved the program so far, being able to get great experience while meeting great people is something I had only dreamed of a few years ago

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills, mainly the ones listed in my role description, as well as my soft skills being communication, teamwork, attention to detail and problem solving

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
The program is organised quite well. We are in office 4 times a week to train and grow within our roles, and we also have a work from home day to accommodate our apprenticeship days.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
If I am ever unsure on what to do I can always speak to my manager for advice. When I had just started my apprenticeship I had asked my manager for additional support and I was helped every step of the way. My day-to-day manager has also great, and also extremely understanding, even though I had no experience in my current job role until I had joined the team

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

3/5
Currently the support I have received from my training provider has been very hit or miss. The training sessions and course content are very good and go into detail on what you need to know, however when emailing tutors I find myself not receiving responses when I urgently need help.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

3/5
Currently unsure as not enough time has passed for me to tell and I haven't completed any modules yet, however the breakout sessions during my apprenticeship workshops have helped my develop my communication and teamwork soft skills which can translate back to my role development

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

4/5
There are lots of opportunities to get involved with colleagues and the wider community at DXC, we often have events that involve all UK offices or location based offices that anyone can go to.
