To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The location and the office are great. The staff who run the apprenticeship are approachable and are always on hand to help with any issues. Likewise, the staff on the project I have been assigned to are friendly and have helped me to understand the various technologies being deployed. My only issue is that the degree I have been assigned to does focus on the right areas for my role.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have been given ample opportunity to learn new skills. The company provides access to Udemy and it also has partnerships with various tech companies that can be used to study towards certifications such as Cisco and VMware. Again, the main training provider is providing a course that has very little relevance to my role.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

From the induction onwards, the programme has been well organised. Communication is mainly through Teams and email. I have regular one to ones with my manager and there is a portal where I can track various competencies to keep myself on track.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support is great so far. I haven't had much to complain about.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider holds weekly lectures and we can speak to lecturers in them or contact them through our university emails. Most of them are responsive and I have no complaints in this regard.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My role is in a particular IT discipline. The qualification is a very broad one focusing on cybersecurity. Very little of the course is relevant to my role. I have had to study for separate certifications to build my competency in my role. It is delivered online, in two hour lectures for each module. I don't particularly enjoy this format but I am still passing.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty extra curricular activities to take part in. I don't have time, as I spend most free time juggling studying for my degree and certifications.

Would you recommend DXC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
DXC is a huge multi national company and there are always interesting projects going on. Just being in the office and around people delivering these projects give you valuable experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DXC?
Apply as a graduate. Ideally you want to have a decent general IT degree. Be ready to start gaining certifications as they are important for keeping your knowledge current. Coming in as a degree apprentice is a bit tougher if the degree doesn't match your role. Ask for plenty of feedback.
