Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am working and studying in the networks team, I have been learning a lot and getting hands on with some tech. There has been a good amount of freedom and space to get settled in and I haven't been micro managed or pressured at all it has been lovely.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am thoroughly enjoying the programme, whilst it can be a lot to manage my time effectively between studying and getting work done, I have found DXC to be very understanding and professional about it all. The academic team have been great at providing structure and a great environment to learn.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to code in python, how to build and configure networks, cybersecurity, quite a bit of math, learning more and more every day.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The academic team at DXC is great and I cannot find a fault there, they are very supportive and helpful. It is tough to have all the Uni lectures for the week in one day, it can, and has, fried my brain a few times!
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have felt very supported throughout the apprenticeship so far, I always know if I have any issue I can reach out and they will be happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The university lecturers are quite good, even offering extra one to one sessions if extra help is needed, like for math for example. Whilst it is online and that comes with its own issues, they are genuinely trying their best which I appreciate.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think that studying the cybersecurity degree has a great deal of overlap with the area I am working in, since there are many topics which are the same, some of the modules might not have a direct correlation to exactly what I am doing, but with the choice of moving between teams in DXC that means they might be relevant in the future too.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are many, I regularly take part in engagement activities for which there is a whole team assembled of grads and other staff who organise and take part in fun activities, charity events etc. Plenty to get stuck in!

Would you recommend DXC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it is a company with a great atmosphere for grads/apprentices coming in. They have helped me every step of the way with amazing attitudes and always understanding. There is large amount of resources to access here which help us to learn and grow every day, I could not think of a better place for someone trying to start out their career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DXC?
I would advise anyone joining to get stuck in, talk to people, ask all the questions, get involved in all the extra curriculars. If you come in with an open mind you will see how much you can get out of the opportunity, and it is a lot !
