Software Engineer Review

Work on a dedicated Summer Intern project during 12 weeks, while participating in the daily workflow of your Software Engineering Team. On a daily basis, the intern attends all team meetings, participates in intern and networking events, and works on their intern project. As well, the intern has frequent one-to-one meetings with their mentor and manager.

As interns, we are given a relatively good amount of responsibility. This is the case as we are given ownership of our projects, and that this work is often deployed to production. As well, we are trusted enough to work independently on our projects.

I have developed many soft skills this Summer, including communication and networking.
Concerning technical skills, I have personally developed my Python and C# skills.
I have also personally learned a lot about the financial domain, especially about Commodities, Futures, Indices and Corporate Actions.

The support and guidance available at Bloomberg is quite important. Firstly, interns have weekly to daily one-to-one meetings with their manager and mentor to make sure that the internship is going well at all times. As well, as part of the Bloomberg culture, colleagues are very open to giving help whenever needed.

The company culture is very open and focused on the employees' wellbeing. As such, everyone is very helpful and open, and the working atmosphere is flexible to allow you to work at your own pace with enough support to stay focused and efficient at your desk.

I very much enjoyed my summer internship. I loved every aspect of it. My project was very interesting to me, I liked my team and peers, everyone was very helpful, the networking and intern events were great. Overall, I had an amazing insight into Bloomberg and loved the experience!
