Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My job role is to care and protect the dogs which come to Dogs Play. Such as, playing with them, making sure they are fed and watered, keeping them safe in the facility.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy working at Dogs Play as all the dogs and staff are really friendly. I enjoy the work modules too as they are very interesting and i get to expand my knowledge which will help me in the future.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned many new skills such as working with animals as this is my first job working in animal care, and understanding a lot about them. Also first aid and about animals body’s.
I’ve expanded my knowledge on customer service and social media.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very organized as each staff if given set jobs for the day, this is tracked through a tick off process. I’m also working through the set programme which is all organized through modules.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

We are checked up on daily, and are asked if we are okay and if there’s anything we need to talk about l. We also have training provider meetings monthly for the same questions.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We see the training providers once a month, for a lesson, this covers set modules in detail they also check previous work we have completed. We see other staff too which ask us if we are doing okay and if we have any questions or need any extra help.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Highly as i learn a lot from training sessions, which expands my knowledge for animals helping me perform better as i then know more about them and things I need to improve.

Why?

I think DogsPlay is a great place to work if you are an animal lover and wanting to work with them. As you get to learn on the job about them and have one to one training sessions. Putting your learned skills into practice.
