Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

3/5
I am currently duty manager at the copper box arena. My job involves leading the shifts, key holder duties, overnight shift management, event management ad operational actions.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

2/5
I currently am struggling with the commute and the timings of shifts as they are completely based on when there are events.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

3/5
In my first 6 months at the copper box moving from crystal palace national sports centre I was learning a lot like documentation, updated risk assessments, cost proposals and many more. I then took over duty manager shifts to fill in when the last DM left and all that stopped. There is not much opportunity to learn new skills at the moment which is the main reason I moved to the Copper Box.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
The Apprenticeship programme is well structured the difficult lies with when involving the time the company must provide to do study's and taking time back for VC classes.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

1/5
I don't receive any supports from my employers.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I have full support and it is very much helpful.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
If I do not have my learning coach helping me I would be further behind in by apprenticeship. They are extremely helpful.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

2/5
I was going to the gym and I blay sports when I am closer to crystal palace. I am not able to do gym concsitently as my commute is too long.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GLL to a friend?

No

Why?

Working in Major Venues I understand is not the same as working in different area. However the fact we share the same contracts and higher expectations is not fair especially when also having a course to do at the same time.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GLL?

Fully understand what roles and jobs you will be expecting to do when applying for GLL. Also try to get a clear understanding of the pathways and procedures for developing in the company.
