Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
As the Influencer and PR Lead for Vaseline, I support the development and delivery of influencer and PR strategies across key campaigns. My role includes leading influencer selection, shaping detailed influencer briefs, overseeing content development and approvals, and managing the nano‑influencer ambassador programme by setting creative content challenges that drive authentic engagement. I also support activity across TikTok Affiliates, helping to identify creators and optimise content to support performance‑led objectives, and I recommend high‑performing influencers and content for paid media boosting to maximise reach and effectiveness. In addition, I support the production of influencer and PR events, including press dinners, ensuring seamless execution and strong brand representation. I work closely with PR agencies to pitch into key media titles and align activity with relevant cultural moments. I am responsible for reporting on influencer, affiliate, and PR performance, tracking results against objectives and using insights to inform optimisation and future planning.

Being trusted to lead elements of influencer and PR activity, contribute to strategy, and manage reporting has been highly motivating and has helped me grow in confidence. I value the variety of the role, the opportunity to work with agencies and creators, and the relevance of the work to live campaigns and cultural moments. Overall, the programme feels engaging, challenging in the right ways, and supportive of both my professional development and long‑term career goals.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
The programme is well structured, with a clear balance between my degree apprenticeship learning and practical, on‑the‑job experience. My academic studies complement my role by reinforcing marketing theory and best practice, while the day‑to‑day responsibilities allow me to apply this learning in real campaign environments. I have had clear objectives, defined responsibilities, and ongoing support, which has helped me understand expectations and how my role contributes to wider business goals. The integration of structured learning, hands‑on campaign work, and regular feedback has supported my development and progression throughout the programme.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I have received a high level of support from my employer throughout the programme. The future careers team has actively ensured that my degree apprenticeship experience meets the required academic standards and runs smoothly. This included the decision to move universities in my third year to Nottingham Trent University to ensure we were receiving the quality of teaching and learning experience necessary to support our development. I have also been supported through opportunities to attend conferences and upskilling events, which have contributed to my professional growth and industry knowledge. My manager and mentor have consistently been available to offer guidance, feedback, and ongoing support whenever needed. In addition, our specialist agencies have played a key role in my development by hosting upskilling calls and sharing expertise, further strengthening my skills and confidence in the role.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The university provides structured teaching, clear academic guidance, and regular feedback to support my progress across modules. In addition, there is dedicated support available for academic writing, with guidance on essay structure, argument development, and how to improve the quality and clarity of my academic writing. Tutors are accessible and responsive, offering support through workshops, tutorials, and review points to ensure I am meeting both academic and apprenticeship requirements. Nottingham Trent University also provides ongoing support around assessments, progress tracking, and balancing academic study alongside my role at work. Overall, the support from the training provider has enabled me to progress confidently through my degree apprenticeship.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Using real business examples from my role within assignments has strengthened my strategic thinking, confidence, and ability to add value to the team. Overall, the close alignment between academic learning and my role ensures that the qualification meaningfully enhances my performance and professional development.
