Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Managing and controlling various projects in different areas of the business. Lots of looking at costs, budgets and scheduling.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It is great. I have a brilliant work-life balance and feel very supported by the company and the university.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a multitude of new skills. A lot of collaboration and stakeholder engagement, meaning my communication skills have developed massively.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is perfect. I do a new role each year to see as much of the business as possible and the companies provides a smooth transition between roles. The structure of University is great too, giving us enough time to learn and study whilst balancing a full-time role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot, there are many different people that I know to go and speak to if I have issues. When I have had issues these have always swiftly been resolved.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Lots of support. My skills coach gives me great guidance and has helped to guide me through my apprenticeship. I never feel as though I have to struggle alone.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification massively overlaps with the roles I am doing and both my work and my studies go hand-in-hand really well.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
I am not aware of too many, although I know there are some out there.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would definitely recommend working at BAE Systems to a friend due to the level of support and benefits the employees receive. They have so many different opportunities, and I think there is an opportunity within BAE for anyone, no matter your skillset. It feels as though everyone in the company wants you to be successful, and there are lots of opportunities to move around the company and develop strong, transferrable skills.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
I would do some research into what the company does and the operations of the company to see what is of interest to you. If you are like me and are unsure what area you'd like to go into, I'd highly recommend the apprenticeship scheme due to how much knowledge you gain of the different areas of the business. After that, you can then go and seek out the best opportunity for you.
