Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Day to day, my role involves calls with the internal and external teams, managing different aspects of the mobilisation process, as well as various responsibilities well into the transition phase of each contract. My responsibilities have included managing the vetting process during the mobilisation of a contract, drafting and sending out letters to inform internal team members of changes and updates to the business, giving updates to internal and external stakeholders on the status of tasks or processes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have thoroughly enjoyed my role and different aspects of it so far. I have met lots of exciting and interesting people, travelled lots over the country to different sites for contracts, and had a good amount of responsibility. I've had a great variety of contracts and good mentorship.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes there are many new skills I have learnt and developed, not only within my role and as a project manager, but also as a person and a young man. I have strengthened my confidence and charisma by meeting so many new people, seeing how different communications work within the business, and speaking on calls. I have also developed better communication skills and task + time management skills from the responsibilites I've been given in this role.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It has been structured very well, and my day to day workflow integrates well with my separate apprenticeship learning. My apprenticeship learning program has been great, with consistent and structured check ins, and the way in which we cover content, through pre-reading, then taught sessions, and then portfolio submissions, is very good.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My mentor is great and I feel I can ask any of my wider team for guidance at any time. I have experienced lots of different aspects of the business and work from working under my mentor, with lots of travelling too. I have good support from one of the OCS team who works under apprentices, and receive check ups, as well as guidance on my role and where I would like to end up and be aiming towards at the end of the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Lots of support from my training provider and from my teacher within my training provider. I receive frequent check ups, with structured reviews such as at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months etc, which involves my mentor, as well as my teacher from my training provider. The way in which the learning was structured and how it integrated with what I was doing in my day to day role was done well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The learning side of it, and the content we are learning is very relevant to the responsibilities of the role and the environment we work inside. The qualification we are going to be receiving is a good level, and is a great next step on from college and A levels. The content we learn is advanced and relevant and the way in which it is taught, as well as the pacing and support, is brilliant and helps to cement the knowledge deep into our memory rather than just the short term memory.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, I personally take part in Monday 5 a side football with some of my fellow apprentices and many of my co-workers at OCS. There are also opportunities that arise to do things like climbing mountains and running marathons, which is great to see and makes the workplace feel more homely and like a family, rather than just a place you show up to just to get your job done and then leave

Would you recommend OCS Group to a friend?

Why?
The opportunities for growth inside of the company are extensive, the role is enjoyable and my team are friendly, and all very enthusiastic about their jobs and you can feel that the whole team is connected and united, and they all work very hard. The office is great and feels easy to work in. Every desk has 2 monitors, the chairs are comfy, and it has a café and coffee machines for all to use.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to OCS Group?
Go above and beyond initially in your application to stand out because there are a lot of applicants (as its such a large company) and this is the stage where the most amount of people are denied. Show up to your interviews with enthusiasm and try to talk to as many people as you can, whilst taking lead in group activities too.
