Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
Health and safety checks (Pool chemical level checks), Spa headcount checks (Steam Room, Sauna, Cold Plunge pool), answering member enquiries, potential member tours, management of staff on shift, management of site clean team, deliveries, assisting with Pool Plant Management, taking payments for memberships, food and beverages.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I learned a lot about health and safety during my programme which I have been able to apply to my role as a Duty Manager and Clean Team Manager. I have been able to assist the Operations Manager at my site with risk assessments and improving health, safety and environmental matters within my workplace.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Risk assessing, Health and Safety monitoring and Management systems, communication, project management, business justifications and cost/benefit analysis, accident investigation skills, interviewing, ethics of health and safety, UK legislation and regulations surrounding health, safety and environmental matters in the workplace.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
I had monthly online classes with a cohort of students with a similar level of knowledge regarding health and safety so we were able to ask questions and have group discussions and have a good understanding. We also had 121 meetings and catch ups with our tutor who was very supportive and knowledgeable. The online system used "Onefile" where we would upload each of our essays and find supportive resources and mock exams was not the easiest to navigate but once I worked out how to use it, this was not too much of an issue.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
My line manager was very supportive throughout my apprenticeship, ensuring I had adequate time to complete all of my work and gave me further opportunities outside of my regular job role which I required in order to complete my off the job learning and be able to have examples of things I have done relating to health and safety within my workplace which I would then be able to base my essays on.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I felt supported by my learning coach throughout my apprenticeship but could have benefited with more 121 time towards the end point assessment.
I do however understand that there are multiple cohorts of students as well as other students within my cohort who my learning coach needed to split their time between so this isn't a bad reflection on my coach but maybe the number of cohorts that each coach is responsible for at any given time.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
I have been able to grow my knowledge, skills and behaviours in many different ways as a result of completing this apprenticeship and have a much better understanding of health and safety and how I can apply it to my role.
My role is a health and safety based role primarily so the knowledge I gained from this apprenticeship has helped me greatly.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
We are a health club so have regular staff classes to get involved with (yoga, pilates, HIIT & strength and conditioning classes. We also have full memberships to the health club for myself and a partner as a benefit of my role.
