Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
The role varies based on management and rotation. Lots of apprentice type tasks like data entry with limited responsibility.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I find the industry interesting but the first year was very boring and despite asking for more on several occasions I had a very limited workload and very limited training.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I've found university the most useful for learning stuff, although it often doesn't apply easily to the the job. I have learnt a lot about the industry at work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Managers seem to get no guidelines on working with apprentices. The designated study day is good to allow enough time for university work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
The company is good around mental health and that kind of stuff. Colleagues are generally very friendly and willing to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The university is okay and good at outlining the requirements for completing the course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I still struggle to find connections between university and work. It's especially hard as uni content is not disclosed prior to lectures.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is lots of community events on and some clubs/teams.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
No
Why?
I think it's very dependent on what team/manager you have. The pay is much less competitive than other companies in my university cohort (although there has been a pay raise in may). I know of a few apprentices who have left in the past few months due to disliking the job, but many do really enjoy it and stay on at Unilever after.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Show your personality in your interview.
