Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I work in the archives and records management team. For RM side it means: processing new records management transfers, answering & completing loan requests, answer enquiries, supporting work on data retention schedules and the annual review of records that have reached retention. For archives: I answer enquiries (including 3rd party commercial licensing requests, external research requests, internal business requests from legal, marketing, CEO office, communications), complete project work, cataloguing, accessioning, lead the external communications programme, and do day-to-day administrative and environmental monitoring tasks.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
This department is very busy so there's lots of opportunities to learn and do something different.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have learnt archives & records management specific skills (digitisation, cataloguing, accessioning, records management processing) and soft skills (project management, time management, communication)

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
My project work is designed around my apprenticeship course.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I have two week check in with my line manager who is very supportive and always encourages me to work on new projects (within consideration of my current capacity). Each month the whole team has a meeting to discuss service issues and raise suggestions.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I have 8 week progress reviews with my college & my line manager where we discuss my academic & workplace progress.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
The academic knowledge I have gained has developed my understanding of the 'why' behind my role and has allowed me to suggest improvements to the Department Head

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

3/5
Professional networks are external to the company and have variable outputs. The internal careers & wellbeing team do put on good events for apprentices, but there wasn't many attendees at the in-person event at my work office.
