Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Main responsibilities involve undertaking preliminary research on new sites to inform a site appraisal and ultimately to determine the site's development potential. There are also opportunities to attend site visits and meet with clients.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I wasn't given much responsibility. All of the work I produced was considered a draft for my colleagues to then build on.

I have developed my abilities to curate detailed site appraisals which are finitely tailored towards the specific constraints and needs of a site.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
My mentor was very helpful and always made sure that I was kept busy and that I was sure of what I was meant to be doing. They never minded taking time out to explain various things in depth with me and had a very positive and encouraging attitude.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone in the office is very friendly and positive. There were some social events such as a cricket match which offered the opportunity to get to know the team better. In the first week I also went for a drink after work with my team to break the ice.

What advice would you give to others applying to Fisher German
A positive and keen-to-learn attitude goes a long way. At the student level, you won't be expected to know everything about planning and so the focus of the interview, for me at least, was more on my personality and interests rather than job-specific knowledge.
