Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I manage a project, engage with stakeholders, manage project finances and risks and provide weekly status reports to senior stakeholders. I am also building a starter pack for the role based off of my own experience as an opportunity to consolidate my knowledge. I also shadow senior project managers on their projects to gain knowledge and understanding.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have been able to learn many new skills around project management such as risk management and schedule management, but I have also been able to develop existing SOFT skills gained from previous jobs, such as leadership and teamwork.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
On the whole the programme is very well structured, however there can be confusion and conflicts between the company's Early Careers team and the university who is providing the degree.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The level of support is excellent, I have many different support systems that I can access and many different people I can talk to, so I always feel supported.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Whilst I haven't need much support from my training provider, I am aware the extra lengths they will go to, to ensure that I will succeed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I believe I have learnt more from working in my placement(s) than I have from the qualification and that experience helps more to perform better in each new role. That is not to say the qualification doesn't help at all.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are professional events that I can get involved in that have been enjoyable when I have participated.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a company that provides excellent support systems, will push you to develop and be the best version of yourself and provides opportunities for you to excel in your field and become a better professional.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Research the company and thoroughly understand what you are applying for and don't be afraid to lean on experiences form school. I find too often that young people think their experiences in school of balancing multiple assignments from multiple A-Level subjects aren't worthy of recognition and show a good example of time management and responsibility. It absolutely is.
