Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I work as a PMO within the SAP Services organisation, providing consulting support to customers delivering complex SAP programmes. My role focuses on ensuring effective programme governance, coordination, and delivery assurance across multiple workstreams.
On a day-to-day basis, this involves supporting programme planning, tracking milestones, managing risks and issues, and producing regular status reporting for senior stakeholders. I work closely with SAP consultants, customer teams, and third-party vendors to ensure alignment on scope, timelines, and dependencies.
For one of my key customers, a large pharmaceutical organisation, I support the programme at an overall level, helping to standardise PMO processes, maintain delivery transparency, and ensure the programme remains on track. This includes facilitating governance forums, supporting decision-making, and acting as a central point of coordination across the wider programme.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I enjoy my programme to a large extent. The working environment is positive and supportive, with a strong focus on personal development and wellbeing. I feel well supported by managers and value the wider apprentice community, which makes the experience both engaging and motivating overall.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Yes, I have developed both new and existing skills during the programme. I have gained recognised certification in SAP Activate, while also continuing to build my soft skills through workshops and day‑to‑day experience. Regular interaction and networking with customers has further strengthened my communication, stakeholder management, and professional confidence.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is well organised and clearly structured. The university element is supported by an online learning portal that breaks learning down on a weekly basis, which works well alongside a corporate working environment.
The apprenticeship itself is also structured, with clear annual goal setting, regular workshops, and a range of industry exposure opportunities. There are organised events, networking opportunities, and cohort‑wide experiences, such as site and factory visits, which add value and help provide broader context beyond day‑to‑day work.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I receive a high level of support from my employer. My manager is very supportive and encourages me to push myself and exceed my own expectations, while also being mindful of wellbeing and life outside of work. There is a strong culture of collaboration, with colleagues always willing to help, and the buddy support system provides additional guidance and mentorship when needed.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I receive a good level of support from my training provider. I have access to my Personal Development Expert/tutor whenever I need guidance, and there are regular workshops available that support my progress towards achieving my qualifications.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
I feel that my qualification supports me well in performing my role. The modules are diverse and detailed, and much of the learning can be directly applied to my day‑to‑day work, helping me build practical skills and a broader professional understanding.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
Yes, there are a range of extra‑curricular activities available at work. These include social and sports activities such as bi‑weekly padel and golf sessions, access to an on‑site gym, as well as organised events and professional networking opportunities that encourage engagement beyond day‑to‑day work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend SAP to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Yes, I would recommend SAP to a friend. It offers a supportive and inclusive working environment with a strong emphasis on development, wellbeing, and long‑term career growth. The culture encourages learning, collaboration, and balance between work and personal life, making it a great place to develop both professionally and personally.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SAP?

I would recommend being authentic throughout the application process and taking the time to research SAP and its values beforehand. It’s also important to show who you are beyond work or study, including your interests and hobbies, as SAP values well‑rounded individuals and cultural fit as much as technical ability.
