Start It by seeing my mentor and talking about what we have to do on a current job or on a job that is coming in. Then we’ll talk about anything interesting that’s happened since we left work the day before. We’ll then carry out our jobs we have to do before going home.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Some days it’s really good and I can do every job well and other days it is really difficult and it feels like I can’t do anything.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I’ve learnt so much, from little things like how to take a bumper off to big things like replacing a quarter. I had no experience going into it and now find myself being able to answer questions my friends might have.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It’s good sometimes, some days we have no cars and it’s not very busy and doesn’t seem to well figured out.

Every time I’ve had a problem it’s always been sorted with no problem and had multiple people willing to help me.

Without it I wouldn’t know some things however I’m not there very often so I learn more actually at work and most things at college are just repeats of what I’ve already done.

Would you recommend Steer Automotive to a friend?
No
Why?
I think it’s so overly saturated with body shops and not enough cars that someone wanting to join will just be twiddling their thumbs. Also the wage isn’t good enough for someone my age for just starting out.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Steer Automotive?
Think If the job is replaceable by ai and if it isn’t then go ahead with applying as you’ll be safe in the future.
