Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis I support the Personal Care account managers on the Superdrug team with all their admin. This involves promotional planning, TMI management and a variety of other tasks that contribute to the account running successfully.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love working for the company. The culture is excellent and the people are amazing. At such an early point in my career this is exceptional.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed a large variety of skills such as communication and time management. Communication has been developed in many 1on1s and conversations with numerous internal and external stakeholders and is paramount to a successful career, so I am keen to keep strengthening this. From a time management perspective balancing work, university and other extra-curriculars is challenging but clearly possible. I have learnt how to effectively prioritise tasks and work to deadlines to ensure nothing is missed.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure is clear and the programme is well organised. The only shame is that my second office day overlaps with my university day which means every other week I miss seeing my team twice. But nothing can be done here.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Using 3 as an impartial response as I have not required any support up till now and thus am unaware of the support that is on hand from my employer, although I am sure it will be sufficient and beneficial if required.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Same answer as the above, I have not required extensive support and thus am unaware of the capacity available to me if required.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

There are many inter-related skills across what I am learning at university and applying in my job. For example a previous module on leadership was beneficial in spearheading a project, however some modules are more difficult as I don't have as much exposure to marketing, thus this module is harder to apply.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there is football every week. I would love more networking events to meet senior stakeholders or even other apprentices as this is a large opportunity missed. I tried to organise an apprentice social at the back end of last year but was not allowed, thus I would strongly promote the idea of it being done centrally!

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?

Why?
Superb company that I want to stay at for a long while. My long-term goal is to work in M&A for Unilever and there is a clear progression to getting there. The people are great and the scope for movement and transition is superb. I plan to be here a while and am extremely happy with the beginning of my journey!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Research the company and identify how you align with the values and goals, then apply this to your interview answers! Speak to current apprentices to find out more about the roles and what you would be getting into, so you can make an informed decision on the role you apply to.
