To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
One of the aspects I enjoy most is the variety—no two days feel the same. The pre-sales training across multiple lines of business has been particularly valuable, as it gives me a broad understanding of SAP’s solutions, including platforms like SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP Analytics Cloud. This makes the experience both interesting and highly relevant for my future career.
The supportive culture and the opportunity to work with experienced professionals also make a big difference. I feel encouraged to ask questions, develop my skills, and take on new challenges.
Overall, I would say I genuinely enjoy the programme and find it both rewarding and valuable for my long-term career development.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
From a technical perspective, I’ve built knowledge in cloud technologies and enterprise software, particularly through exposure to platforms like SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP Analytics Cloud. I’ve also developed my understanding of data analysis, solution architecture, and how different technologies integrate to solve business problems.
A key area of growth has been in pre-sales skills. Through training across multiple lines of business, I’ve improved my ability to understand customer needs, position solutions effectively, and communicate value in a clear and structured way.
In addition to technical skills, I’ve significantly developed my soft skills. My communication and presentation skills have improved through regular team interactions and presenting ideas. I’ve also strengthened my teamwork, time management, and problem-solving abilities by working on real projects and balancing my apprenticeship with university commitments.
Overall, the programme has helped me become more confident, adaptable, and well-rounded, both technically and professionally.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
There is a good balance between formal training—such as courses, certifications, and pre-sales training across multiple lines of business—and practical, hands-on work. This structure helps reinforce learning, as I’m able to apply new knowledge directly in real work scenarios.
Support systems are also well established, with regular check-ins from managers and mentors to ensure I’m progressing and getting the most out of the programme. Expectations are clearly communicated, and there is flexibility to explore different areas of interest while still following a structured pathway.
Overall, the programme is well organised, with a strong balance of guidance and independence, which has made it both effective and enjoyable.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
I have regular check-ins with my manager and access to mentors who provide guidance, feedback, and help with both my professional development and day-to-day tasks. Everyone is approachable and willing to help, which makes it easy to ask questions and learn from others.
There is also a wide range of learning resources available, including training programmes, certifications, and pre-sales training across different lines of business. This shows a clear investment in building my skills and helping me succeed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
My coach/tutor is supportive and provides regular feedback, helping me understand how to improve my work and develop my skills further. Reviews and check-ins are useful for tracking progress and ensuring I’m meeting the required standards.
There are also helpful learning resources and workshops available, which reinforce the content and provide additional support when needed. Communication is generally good, and I feel comfortable reaching out for help if I have any questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
It has helped strengthen my understanding of core concepts like data analysis, solution architecture, and how technology supports business outcomes. This makes it easier to contribute more effectively in my day-to-day tasks, especially when working with tools like SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP Analytics Cloud.
One of the biggest benefits is being able to apply what I learn in a practical context. The qualification provides the theoretical foundation, while my role allows me to see how those concepts are used in real business scenarios, which reinforces my learning.
Overall, the qualification adds clear value to my role by improving both my technical understanding and my ability to think more critically about business problems, although the real impact comes from combining it with hands-on experience at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
There are regular social events and team activities, which are great for building connections across different teams. In terms of sports, there are opportunities to get involved in things like padel, onsite gym, football, and other fitness-related activities, which makes it easy to stay active and meet new people outside of day-to-day work.
There are also professional networking events, internal communities, and initiatives that allow you to connect with colleagues across the business, learn from others, and expand your network.

Would you recommend SAP to a friend?
Why?
A key strength is the level of exposure you get across the business. Through pre-sales training across multiple lines of business, you gain a broad understanding of SAP’s portfolio and how different solutions are positioned to customers. This is complemented by hands-on experience, where you are able to contribute to real work and see how these solutions are applied in practice rather than just learning theory.
The working culture also stands out. Colleagues are approachable and willing to support your development, and there is a genuine emphasis on helping apprentices succeed. Regular interactions with experienced professionals help build confidence and provide valuable insight into different career paths within the company.
In addition, there are opportunities beyond day-to-day work, including networking events, social activities, and internal communities, which make it easier to build connections and feel part of the organisation. This combination of structured learning, practical experience, and a positive culture makes SAP a very strong choice for starting a career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SAP?
It’s also important to demonstrate a willingness to learn. You don’t need to know everything about SAP products beforehand, but showing curiosity, initiative, and an eagerness to develop your skills is key, especially given the amount of training and exposure you’ll receive once you join.
Try to research SAP’s core areas, such as cloud platforms and data analytics, and be aware of solutions like SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP Analytics Cloud. Even a basic understanding will help you speak more confidently about the company and its value.
During the application process, focus on communicating clearly and confidently. Be prepared to talk about your experiences, how you approach problem-solving, and how you work in a team. SAP places a lot of value on collaboration and communication, especially in roles like pre-sales.
