Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
On a day-to-day basis, the role typically involves supervising staff across different areas of the centre, such as the gym, swimming pool, fitness classes, and reception. This includes organising rotas, providing guidance, and stepping in to support the team during busy periods. You’re also responsible for maintaining staff morale and ensuring everyone is working efficiently and professionally.
Customer service is a major part of the job. This means handling enquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring visitors have a positive experience. You may also be involved in promoting memberships, supporting sales targets, and helping to deliver community engagement initiatives or events.
Health and safety responsibilities are central to the role. This includes ensuring compliance with regulations, carrying out regular checks, overseeing pool safety, and making sure all equipment is properly maintained. In many cases, you’ll act as the duty manager, meaning you’re the go-to person in emergencies or for any operational issues.
Administrative duties also form part of the role. These can include managing budgets, monitoring performance metrics, completing reports, and supporting the Centre Manager with business planning and targets.
Overall, the role is dynamic and people-focused. It requires strong leadership, organisation, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to balance customer satisfaction with operational efficiency.
