Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I started off my apprenticeship by taking responsibility of the Group Accounts Payable process, processing invoices and arranging payments to supplier. Over time I started to expand my accounting knowledge and took on more management accounting tasks like preparing the monthly overhead analysis and accruals / prepayments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship with Last Mile. My team were very supportive, helping me in my studies and in the workplace. It was very helpful to learn the theory through my studies and also be given a chance to practice in real life situations with the support of my colleagues.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Starting my apprenticeship I had a very basic knowledge of accounting that I had been taught at high school so I had a lot to learn. I am proud to say I have progressed very well in my career, both during the apprenticeship and after with Last Mile and attribute a lot of my growth to the opportunities I had as an apprentice.

My team were very supportive through my apprenticeship, consistently keeping my work relevant to my studies, helping wherever I was unsure and giving me the time off I needed to study and prepare for exams.

My apprenticeship qualifications taught me the basics of accounting but it was my hands on experience in work that helps me to perform well in my role now.
