Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
A lot of measuring with specific tools for a specific task
Marking out material
Aligning flanges and tightening bolts to a certain torque
Understanding the importance of health and safety
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It’s been a good start to the first year and hopefully it gets better as time goes on into the business

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve learnt a lot even though my previous role was very similar to what I’ve gone into at BAE Systems

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It wasn’t ideal at the start with no tutors to teach us but after a few months it got organised and there was a smooth pattern that got into gear
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
They are always there for each and every one of us when we need it and the process to get further support is very accessible
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Again they don’t miss anything off if there is any need for help
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It is a good way of learning the way they do it and it sticks into your memory well to remember it forever
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I haven’t really been involved or heard about any of these social or sporting events

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because the benefits and workload is very good with a decent pay packet at the end of a 4 weekly period, it is very good to develop your learning skills and also your physical skills in a trade you can keep forever
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Make sure you revise a lot on the company before taking an interview, all about the behaviours and values and to have the knowledge of what’s going on in the world at the moment. Just be yourself and be keen
