Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

The majority of my work day to day was planned maintenance and fault finding on electrical equipment and systems on site. such as electrical motors and pumps, standalone VSDs and multidrive, PLCs and alot of different types on instrumentation and control equipment such as flow meters, level transmitters, consistency meters, Pt100s and thermocouples etc.
All on the paper machine itself or on the CHP plant and the gas and steam turbines or the ERB and ETP out on the back of site.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the roll as its different each day and there's a never ending amount of stuff to learn and get better at.
the closeness to home and the work benefits such as early finishes on a friday etc also make it an attractive place to work.

ive gone from a 16 year old school leaver to a fully qualified electrical technician in 4 years. so ive learnt abit

How well organised/structured is your programme?

structure was poor and could of been better organised and planned. For example having someone on site whos only job is to train and look after the apprentices rather then giving an already busy department 4 apprentices with no plan and not enough bodies to train them.

support has been good ive never felt in the position where if i asked for something or needed help i wouldn't get it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

our original training provider (stegta) closed down mid apprenticeship so thats wasnt ideal so there was a delay in us finishing and coming out of our time. however the new company where always there if we needed anything .
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

the qualifications from college give a good baseline knowledge on using tools , health and safety and understanding the basic principles of engineering which then you can develop and refer back to as your career goes on.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

the lads from work play paddle every now and then and also arrange company golf day once a year. there is also organised walks and hikes that you can attend

I feel as though its a good solid company with alot of benefits. Along with the opportunity's you can get here such as working around the world and working on so many different pieces of equipment and systems that are universal in all industrys
