My job role is to perform mechanical maintenance tasks to assist the running of the papermill and all other facilities on-site.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my job and all the challenges that accompany my work. I also enjoy learning new skills and developing my knowledge around the paper machine.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Everyday through my apprenticeship was a learning experience, I cannot recall a day where I left the mill knowing exactly the same as I did at the start of my shift. I was constantly developing my hands on experience as to how to repair the equipment as well as the uses for each piece of equipment in terms of the production scope.

The structure of my apprenticeship was well organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Whenever I had a question or required some assistance with my apprenticeship, Saica was always keen to assist me in any way possible.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I found that the Growth Company assisted me to the best of their ability when I was completing my technical certificate but when I was on the run up to and during my end point assessment I found that the support has tailed off a little when I needed it most.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel like the qualification gave me the building blocks that I needed to develop my skills as a mechanical maintenance engineer.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

My work have a weekly football match at the local sports centre and an annual golf day.
