Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

This changes depending on the placement, however I am currently in a business operations role. This involves keeping spreadsheets up to date, ensuring colleagues in the team are aware of changes and monitoring bookings as well getting involved in projects where possible.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme and the skills coaches are all really helpful. They make an effort to support us all where they can to ensure we get the best from ourselves. There is a well balanced split between placement and apprenticeship work.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my knowledge of project management skills significantly in the amount of time I have been here. I have also developed my stakeholder management and communication skills as part of developing my overall communication skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is clearly structured from the start of the apprenticeship as we receive a scheme of work upon starting with the structure including dates plus extra site tours added when available.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Everybody I have come across in the early careers network makes me feel supported. This can be across any subject in work. Placement managers also play a big part in my apprenticeship and they have been very patient and understanding throughout my apprenticeship journey so far.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support form my provider whether it is a scheduled teams call or being available for a teams call at any time of the day to ask for advice or guidance.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification helps me perform through my role by developing my understanding of core company basics as well as more advanced skills on delivery days that I can take into my placement work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have a networking group between 1st and 2nd year Project Management apprentices as well as a WhysUp session which was a social event with an external organisation that was very important and informative for apprentices

Why?
It is a great company to build a life long career in due to the size of the business and amount of roles and progressions available. There a plenty of benefits that come with being in the business as well that are unique compared to other organisations.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Keep an open mind, the business is massive and will present opportunities you don't expect. Always say yes, don't miss out on opportunities to develop.
