Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is very varied and my young, keen managerial team is always eager to make sure my working week is very varied and I get a full scope of the company and a chance to try every element. Day to day I am often taking, amending, cancelling and organising orders, putting them onto a complex system and assigning them to drivers. Within my time at Breedon I have also spent days at head office, with drivers on deliveries and in batching plants etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The college course itself is mundane and lackluster with little work to complete and not enough to challenge. This may be due to my completion of a levels that I do not feel as stimulated by level 2 work but my issues were raised to my manager and he always ensures that there is plenty for me to do to remain busy and interested.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My telephone, excel and computing skills were non-existent when starting my role but in less than a week I was able to make and take calls with ease and navigate systems much better. My boss has also enrolled me on plenty of courses to help develop different skills in different areas.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There are frequent 1-1 s with my manager and there is also a large group of support for apprentices specifically which we were all introduced to at various apprenticeship events and KIT days. This fantastic network allows support from a wide range of people. The structure was also made clear to us so we knew who we could go to if we need anything but overall the whole community is so positive and welcoming that I would feel confident going to anyone for support.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There are frequent 1-1s, surveys and check ins with my managers, colleagues and different leaders. They honestly couldn't do enough for us as employees and as apprentices
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My training coach only works a few days a week which makes it hard to get any help with coursework etc but that is not common so it isn't a major issue.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification doesn't have much relation to my work as transport planner as it is rather vague in nature but it helps slightly with customer service skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

For apprentices specifically they have organised multiple networking events for us to familiarise ourselves and network with others in the business but also to strengthen socially with other people in the same position as me.

The company and its employees and senior leaders are fantastic and couldn't do enough for you. They are committed to investing in you and wanting you to achieve. The support is second to none.

Go in confident and ambitious! Take every opportunity given to you and try everything before getting comfortable in a role.
