Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
assisting with my teams daily operations.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
there are good days and bad days. the work is exciting and interesting but days feel often slow with sometimes having no deliverables to work towards

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
yes, throughout my time i have been learning how to use the company's tools along with using computer tools often. my role requires consistent collaboration and communication which are being devleoped

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
i feel my apprenticeship role lacks structure on development. There is no plan throughout our apprenticeship where it shows that we are learning or developing. There is a lack of deliverables that we are subject to meet. We don't require to fill in a logbook. The only reflection of development we see is a quarterly meeting with our line managers to see what we have been working on and an end of placement presentation that really only develops presenting skills. It feels when we start a placement we are just left to try and learn as much as we can on our own, through just turning up. There is no plan over the 6 months on what we have to achieve and what we will learn.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The support is there from the employer and are always happy to have chats or provide guidance on anything we struggle with. But at the same time it does sometimes feel like we are a seperate entity within the apprenticeship scheme. We are sort of left to just crack on with the job and hopefully we learn and if we dont then theres no record to say we havent.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
they are really good providing any support or needs regarding my uni course. We also get any required support from the uni itself if needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The uni degree provides a really good understanding of engineering principles. That do link to the job role, but providing skills for the role i feel it lacks a little. The software tools taught are not ones we use in our job other than microsoft excel.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
yes, there is plenty but limited to work actions only. there is minimal social events for apprentices to meet other apprentices.
