Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I hold a National role which builds and delivers a strategy to upskill our managers and leaders. This can be through in-house training and development modules, which I design and deliver. Or through conferences with various workshops to upskill individuals.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have been on the Level 7 Senior People Professional apprenticeship, which has been hugely useful to my role and my personal/professional development. I am more confident with influencing stakeholders. I am building a Company toolkit for employees to guide them through TUPE mobilisations/demobilisations. This has empowered me and helped build my confidence in my abilities. I have build credibility among the organisation and this brings me joy in my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
Initially I was apprehensive to embark on the apprenticeship, but the learning was structure and went so quickly!

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
My manager was incredibly supportive throughout being on programme - ensuring I always had time and capacity to complete my off the job hours, and giving me exposure to new projects for my development.
In addition, the support from the wider team helped me to draw on evidence for my portfolio.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
My coach is brilliant - so helpful.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
It has given me more knowledge which has built my confidence in my abilities. This has led me to be promoted to a national role.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
We have a Society which hosts regular social events, sports days, BBQs, family events, award ceremonies. Being part of the society is a great way to network and build strong relationships with colleagues, and making the workplace a great place to be.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GLL to a friend?

Yes

Why?

I've worked for various organisations over my 17 year career in HR and I honestly feel I have found my place with GLL. GLL are a Charitable Social Enterprise, meaning they don't have shareholders and reinvest any surplus back into our facilities and the reward and development of its staff. The people, the culture, the opportunities - all make it such a great place to work. I genuinely enjoy working for GLL and would recommend it to anyone interested in joining a rewarding organisation who gives back to it's staff and the community.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GLL?

Look into what it means to be a Social Enterprise and a Values Driven organisation. If this aligns with your own values, then it is the perfect place for you.
