Business Technology Summer Intern Review

It is a software engineering role, where at the beginning I got assigned a specific project. I did have a say in the project allocation process.
Throughout the whole internship I worked closely with my managers and had plenty of chances to express my opinions and to find which aspect of the project most interest me.
We did a lot of learning of new technologies and programming languages.

The project I worked on will have an impact on the the workflow of the department. I would say that a fair amount of responsibility is given. You work to make something important which will help the company progress and if you make a mistake you have the support to help you fix it.

I have done both. In terms of coding - lot of new information had to be learned quickly. Every tool I was using was new to me and I had the chance to learn in a rather dynamic manner. Because of that, it was never boring and it fells so good when things start making sense.
As for the developing of existing skills, Discover is an amazing place to meet new people and improve your soft skills.

There was not a time where I felt uncomfortable or scared to ask for help. Everyone is so happy to offer support. From other interns to senior management, people are friendly and open to discuss and find a solution to whatever problem you are stuck on.

Everyone is laid back, but still professional and hard working. I could make jokes with my manager as well as with my director. We got a chance to speak to the CEO of the company and he is just as casual and welcoming.
My team was incredible and I had fun every day. Going to the office is exciting (not only because of the coffee machines), but because you are working with people that you like.

My internship is nine weeks and this time has gone by in a blink. I made so many great friends and worked on things I enjoyed. It has been an exciting summer and I have enjoyed every aspect of the job.
