I support clients within the community to promote independence and improve quality of life. My role involves enabling individuals to learn new skills, manage daily activities, and achieve personal goals. I complete key management and administrative tasks, including updating client support plans and hospital passports, ensuring care is person‑centred, accurate, and up to date. I also provide guidance and support to staff, responding to enquiries and promoting good practice. In addition, I work collaboratively with adult services and other professionals to ensure coordinated and effective support for clients.

I have developed and strengthened several skills in my role as a Senior Support Worker.
I have improved my leadership and supervisory skills, particularly in supporting staff, offering guidance, and addressing concerns in a professional and supportive manner. I have become more confident in delegating tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring care plans and risk assessments are followed correctly.
I have also developed stronger communication skills, especially when liaising with managers, multidisciplinary teams, families, and external professionals. This has helped me advocate effectively for service users and ensure their needs are met.

Daily routines, rotas, and care tasks are planned clearly, which helps ensure consistency and continuity of care for service users. I prioritise tasks effectively, balancing direct support with senior responsibilities such as compliance checks, documentation, and staff support.
Care plans, risk assessments, and handovers are followed systematically, and I make sure important information is communicated accurately to the team. I also allow flexibility within the programme to respond to unexpected situations, emergencies, or changes in service users’ needs while still maintaining structure.

It has helped me develop my skills, confidence, and understanding of best practice, which I can apply immediately in my day‑to‑day work. The guidance and feedback from the training provider also help me reflect on my practice and continuously improve the quality of support I provide.
