Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
I tend to look at more of the audit admin work until slightly more experienced, then I begin on the actual audits and being going on site and client facing work looking at more actual audit work. On the apprenticeship side I attend Kaplan and am required to complete OneFile also.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

2/5
The beginning of the program was a difficult change for me and felt badly planned, although has improved since then. For the apprenticeship, the learning element is fine although OneFile and logging hours and the end point assessment courses seem pointless as we have already completed the course, why stretch out the level 3.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

4/5
I have learnt lots around audits and working with difference clients and being onsite etc

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

2/5
I joined out of normal school leaver times my program was not very well organised and there was time I was not booked onto courses correctly and felt that I had been forgotten about. In regard to OneFile I didn't feel there was adequate support on what was needed and this left me behind for the first few months until I had to pick ideas from other people, not the talent coaches provided.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

2/5
At time I was sat doing nothing, even asking for more work, nothing felt organised for me as i fit in between year groups. If it is not achievable to hire someone outside of terms as there is no plan then this should be stuck to as this added to my struggle when i joined.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

1/5
I did not receive help from the training provider. I tried reaching out for support from the talent coach, although this was not helpful, this left me behind for a while. I also feel that the talent coaches didnt have correct knowledge at one point as were providing contradicting information saying other people from my firm (who had the same coach) could do things and I couldn't, this should be the same across the board.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

3/5
The knowledge provided through the courses helps massively in the role. The other parts of the apprenticeship do not help as OneFile feels like a burden and the end point courses do not feel necessary as you have already covered the exams and content so why do it again?

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

4/5
Yes there are different clubs to join although I have not been added to these as of yet.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend UNW LLP to a friend?

Yes

Why?

I'd recommend the company as it provides a vast range of audit experience, doing work across all of the audit file and working face to face with client and a younger age. I would also recommend a degree apprenticeship as being paid while learning is very beneficial and learning on the job.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UNW LLP?

The first year of the apprenticeship you will be given the lower admin bits of work that will be boring and mundane tasks. Push through this time so that you begin on actual work then it will get better. Also take in mind all of the learning that is required.
