Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am an Apprentice Valuer at Savills and I work within the housing valuation team which mainly values social housing for loan security purposes. My role combines practical, on‑the‑job learning with formal training, allowing me to develop a strong technical understanding of valuation principles while working toward my professional qualification.
On a day‑to‑day basis, I assist with inspecting properties, gathering and analysing market prices and and researching comparable transactions to support valuation advice. I help prepare valuation reports and ensuring information is accurate and up to date while also liaising with colleagues and clients where appropriate.
Throughout my apprenticeship, I receive guidance and mentoring from experienced valuers while gradually taking on more responsibility as my knowledge and confidence develop.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme to a very high extent. The apprenticeship provides a strong balance between practical experience and structured learning, which has allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge directly to real valuation work.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a range of new skills throughout my apprenticeship so far. I have strengthened my technical understanding of property valuation, including analysing comparable evidence and understanding market trends across different property types. I have also developed practical skills such as assisting with property inspections and contributing to the preparation of valuation reports. In addition, I have massively improved my use of Excel. Alongside technical skills, I have enhanced my communication skills engaging with colleagues across teams, and gaining exposure to client interaction.
