Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an Assistant Client Accountant, I understand my role to be helping to reduce excessive workloads from both my manager and the client accountants by taking on weekly and monthly reports and trackers in order to help manage our clients accounts. I would say my key responsibilities include preparing the monthly reporting, maintaining the non-recoverable trackers which run on a weekly/biweekly basis, completing the car park receipting for multiple client car parks and completing bank reconciliations.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am enjoying my apprenticeship programme as it has meant I have been able to begin to learn the fundamentals of accounting, working closely with my line manager and taking on new responsibilities within a global company. It has also allowed me to meet new people with my similar career interests, speak with colleagues with ranging lengths of experience, from recent starters to long-term employees and better understand the business, the company's values and expectations, and what it means to be successful within my role and what my impact is on our clients.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I believe this role has introduced me to working within a large business framework, collaborating with a range of internal and external parties in order to ensure financial data is correct and processes are accurate. This has benefitted my communication and teamwork, whilst being adaptable to a variety of colleagues and clients. Also, the development of my attention to detail and prioritising tasks has improved.

I am given plenty of support from my line manager, who has been very helpful and understanding in my development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider, The Growth Company, have also been very supportive and helpful towards my qualification, providing all resources and assistance when needed and creating a friendly and productive learning environment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel confident in the benefits of the qualification to my role as it give me a better understanding of my impact on the accounting system.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, I have joined the company football team which I enjoyed, which is one of many sports on offer. There are also plenty of professional networking events in which some I have attended and the rest I look forward to attending such as conferences and apprenticeship awards ceremonies.
