Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Provide essential, hands-on care for patients in hospital setting under the supervision of registered professionals. Key duties include assisting with mobility, personal hygiene, feeding, and monitoring vital signs. No specific qualifications are typically required, but the candidates should have good numeracy/literacy skills and a compassionate, caring nature.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The Apprenticeship programme is very straight forward with clear instructions on requirements. I was given enough study days to complete my coursework, learning components and build my final portfolio required for End Point Assessment/Apprenticeship Assessment. I was supported to complete my Care Certificate, I enjoyed the interactive classes and interesting modules throughout the programme. Many thanks to the Apprenticeships Team who were very supportive from the start to the end, their guidance helped me to build my confidence and gain the necessary knowledge to perform well in the clinical areas.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, the role itself requires continuous personal development, which includes learning and developing skills, face to face trainings such as Medical Devices Training, Basic Life Support, Excellence in Care training, many online learning courses, free optional courses such as Mental Health Advocacy, Understanding Autism, Level 2 Functional Skills in Math and English. I have completed nearly 400 off-the-job learning hours all throughout the programme.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is structured very well, starting with on-boarding induction, followed by excellence in care training, work placement in one of the clinical areas, study days given twice a month to complete required learning components and build portfolio, some study days included interesting modules such as Quality Improvement, Infection Prevention, Pain Management, Palliative Care etc.. Every quarter we had recognition Awards for the Apprentices who were performing well. Throughout the programme we had the opportunity to review our Apprenticeships Team to give improvement suggestions, regular reviews after every study day module. Overall the organisation and structure of the programme is outstanding.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer gave me endless support to complete my programme, released me for the study days, communicated with the Apprenticeships Team on regular basis, attended Tripartite Reviews, gave objective opinion on my progress.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have received great support from Training provider/Apprenticeships Team during the programme, they were always present at the study days, their guidance helped me to complete my final portfolio. They even provided support during out of hours, replied to any questions via text message or email. They visited me in my work area and conducted observations, regularly attended Tripartite Reviews and communicated well with my employer. Thanks to their support I am at the final stage of my programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
After completing the programme I will be able to work independently as a Healthcare Support Worker. I will have the required knowledge to work safely and provide better care and support to our patients and my colleagues. Also completing the programme will give me the opportunity to progress further in my career and take up higher level apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there were numerous extra-curricular activities during the programme, such as learning modules on study days, team building activities including social activities, games, quarterly award ceremonies for the outstanding performance.
