Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Provided advisory and implementation services to clients and trustees on DB pensions.
Day to day this involved carrying out CETV calculations and updating monthly hot topics for seniors to deliver in client/trustee meetings.
Active lessons on various aspects of pensions and applying that by using WTW software such as excel and PVTM (Pension Valuer - Transfer Module)

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes - Many times you were given calculations to do and tasks that would be sent out to clients on multiple billion dollar schemes! The stress is alleviated due to the multiple checks it goes through with more senior people. This allows you to feel comfortable making mistakes and thus learning from them

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes - there was a large amount of training at the start. As a result, I learnt lot about pensions including revaluation and important legislative and legal dates. Further, learning to communicate in a team and professional setting

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
In the first 2 weeks there was mainly training - providing the necessary knowledge to work in the pensions industry. There were always people around who would be more than happy to answer any questions I had and as a result any problems I had were able to be solved

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was super nice and accommodating. I always felt comfortable approaching anyone and introducing myself/asking them a technical question. There were many social events outside of work involving pub,bowling,sports,salsa which many people from the office attended and had a great time!

What advice would you give to others applying to WTW
Learn the different types of pensions: DB and DC.
Once you get to the HireVue stage, you're able to showcase what you have learnt and provide technical details which will allow you to get to the interview.
BE YOURSELF! Everyone is super nice so treat it more as a conversation. As long as you are social and have done a bit of background on WTW and pensions, they would love to have you!
