Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
An extremely well structured training programme, far from the tea and coffee runs internships stereotypically are thought to involve. It is an intense programme and very intellectually challenging, slightly overwhelming the first few weeks with a bit of information overload, but there is lots of support with this. Client work is very varied, but if you aren't confident with core mathematical abilities, this may not be the role for you- lots of maths.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to WTW
Be aware that this isn't an internship for someone wanting to slip under the radar and do no work, you are trained well and paid so expected to complete a lot of client work. There are usually two interns in the regional offices, so you pull your weight for sure. The structure of the programme involves lots of information and training regarding pensions, so make sure you have an interest, there is lots of quite complicated maths initially, but this eases once you use spreadsheets instead of doing them by hand, it is just to learn to the core reasons behind it. The graduate retention of interns is fantastic, so if this is an area you want to go into, the internship is definitely the best way through the doors, as most previous interns returned as a graduate.
