Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Worked alongside Project & Study Statisticians within a set Therapy Area for 3 years. In this role i assisted study team members with Clinical Trials (Phase 1-3) from study start all the way through to submission. Regular tasks could be; validating sample size calculations, providing rationale for protocols and statistical analysis plans, contributing towards a Clinical Study Report (CSR) and programming tables, outputs and listings for the CSR, translating programs from SAS to R and researching new regulatory guidelines for clinical trials (i.e., Estimands strategies, Bayesian and AI/ML methods, simulation etc.,)
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Apprentice programme was amazing and included a team building and networking trip once a year in order to build leadership and communication skills. These helped build connections within other business areas that i would have otherwise had 0 contact with

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed several skills including my communication and leaderships skills through teambuilding events

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Lvl 7 Apprentice scheme is fairly new in GSK and so uses framework of already established grad programme which works well but sometimes apprentices do need further support as the grad scheme is not the same as a degree apprenticeship
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Work itself has been amazing, however have felt that apart from quarterly comms from Apprentice managers i have very little contact with them after my first few months joining and that my main points of contact (even in offboarding) came from line managers
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Uni have been amazing throughout entire programme and have been able to assist and support through both study and apprenticeship side of programme whilst maintaining clear communication
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Its essential as i cannot function in my day-to-day role without a masters and Lvl 7 apprentice scheme helped me achieve this
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
GSK does have some networking events and social activities but this is purely lead by colleagues and due to recent global events GSK has had to scale down on social events and R&R for departments which is quite disappointing

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GSK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Its a global company full of inspiring people with decades of experience and more often than not i am working with colleagues with 20, 20 or even 30+ years of experience in the industry. More importantly, GSK gives me the opportunity to use my skillset and have a positive impact on peoples lives which is incredibly motivating and pushes me to grow as an individual
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?
Main question i would ask to an aspiring hire is- Why do i want to work for GSK specifically, rather than any other company within the pharma industry? If you can answer this question with confidence and draw on personal experience, GSK's culture and purpose within the pharma industry and showcase how much you want to grow and improve as an individual, then you can make yourself standout amongst the crowd
