Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Day-to-day varies throughout placements but it mainly consists of aiding the development of products and processes through the lifecycle process. This can be from the design, testing, manufacturing and disposal with individuals experiencing all stages throughout the apprenticeship.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The majority of placements are both engaging and enjoyable with lots of experienced gained

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

developed knowledge and skills learnt in college and developed a deep understanding in the systems we manufacture and deal with on a daily basis

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Apprenticeship is broken into placements in the workplace which are arranged by line manager ensuring experience is gained in all areas of the business. University broken into block learning with relevant modules throughout.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Constant support from placement managers when needed to ensure work being completed is understood with general support from apprentice manager for any other queries
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Lectures completed in block with support from lecturers as required via email/calls. Quarterly meetings with university liaison officer to ensure progress is being made both at university and workplace which also act as an opportunity to raise concerns.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Some modules are slightly less relevant to the work we do on site with others being key and implemented at work on a regular basis. Course is design for all aspects of the industry so even less relevant modules are both interesting and useful to know for the future.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Regular activities within engineering department and weekly sports clubs that can be attended after work using our facilities.

This apprenticeship is a good opportunity to develop key skills and gain a degree qualification with no student loans to repay and offers a good salary throughout the scheme.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Prepare for the interview with projects and tasks in mind that could be used to answer a variety of questions. If successful, be proactive and show interest in the work you are involved in.
