Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
Job itself isn’t too bad. Feel like I hardly get the opportunity to do my butchery job because they have me on other departments quite a lot. And they also haven’t signed me off yet so I don’t get my pay increase from being a butcher, which I can’t get without being on the department more so what am I meant to do there. But plenty of false promises and all that just like all companies, my colleagues are nice enough and they take pride in their job. Management could be better but most of them are doing the best they can.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It was fun learning about butchery but it was a bare bones level of knowledge I would be laughed out of butcher shops, didn’t go to college or anything all online work. My apprenticeship mentor from an outside company was good and helped me pass with flying colours. But it only lasted a year and I’m expected to be on the same level as other members of staff who went through old style apprenticeships and have over 20+ years service.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I can now use a knife, take apart primal cuts and fillet fish. My people skills have gotten even better and my working with colleagues has improved.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It was well structured from an outside perspective and outside support was helpful and my team is helpful.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
I revived more support from my colleagues than my employer
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
They helped me a lot, very thankful
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
It’s helpful but you don’t need a qualification to do it
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Nothing at all

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Morrisons to a friend?
No
Why?
It’s a job I guess but the career aspect isn’t what it used to be. Better off doing it as a part time gig and getting some uni qualifications.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Morrisons?
Be good with customers and be ready for disappointment
