Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My leadership apprenticeship has been a highly practical development programme that has strengthened my capability as a leader alongside my day job. It combines structured learning with real workplace application, so improvements are immediate and tangible. I have developed how I lead people and how I deliver outcomes through others. My role has helped me become more confident and consistent in areas including communication, stakeholder management, prioritisation, coaching, and managing change.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have enjoyed my programme very much. I’ve seen clear benefits in how I lead conversations, set direction, and support others to deliver outcomes, as well as in my own confidence and consistency as a leader. The reflective element and evidence-building have also helped me be more intentional about learning from real situations and continuously improving.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve developed existing skills such as communication, prioritisation, and stakeholder management, and I’ve also gained new practical tools for coaching, feedback, and handling challenging conversations.
The apprenticeship has made my leadership more consistent and intentional, and I’m more confident applying structured approaches to day-to-day situations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme has been very well structured, breaking each topic into manageable chunks so I can focus on real world application one step at a time. Regular review points have helped me to reflect and consolidate my learning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer has been very supportive, we have an internal mentor programme running alongside the apprenticeship and I have been paired up with someone I admire professionally, to help me work through challenges and find the right opportunities to put my learning into practice.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider has also been excellent. I have had monthly calls with my tutor, who has also been easy to reach by text message and very helpful throughout. At one point my progress was stalling due to a personal health issue, and she helped me create an action plan to get back on track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Through the apprenticeship I have built a toolbox of skills that I can use in my role, and I am far more confident in my work than I was before starting. In fact, I am about to step into a secondment for a role that I could only have dreamt of a year ago. Thanks to this qualification, I am now ready for the next step in my career.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We have employee resource groups and a colleague forum, providing opportunities to network and provide value outside of our roles. I have been nominated representative for my area of the business in our colleague forum.
