Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As an Apprentice Surveyor at Savills, my role involves supporting the Property Management team in the day‑to‑day running of a mixed commercial portfolio. My responsibilities include assisting with service charge management, liaising with tenants, organising reactive and planned maintenance works, reviewing contractor reports, and ensuring compliance across the properties I help manage. I also support with financial tasks such as processing invoices, checking budgets, updating client reports, and preparing turnover summaries. Alongside on‑the‑job learning, I work closely with senior surveyors, attend site visits, and gain hands‑on experience that builds my technical knowledge and professional confidence.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my Apprentice Surveyor Degree Programme, as it provides a great balance of academic learning and practical experience. Working at Savills allows me to apply my university studies directly to real‑world situations, develop professional skills, and gain exposure to a wide range of property management tasks. The support from my team and the structured nature of the apprenticeship make the programme both engaging and rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Throughout my apprenticeship, I have both learnt new skills and significantly developed existing ones. I’ve gained a much deeper understanding of property management processes, including service charge administration, contractor management, turnover reporting, and compliance procedures. My communication and tenant‑liaison skills have strengthened through regular interaction with occupiers, contractors, and internal teams. I’ve also developed strong analytical and numerical skills by working with budgets, reviewing service charge schedules, and preparing financial summaries. In addition, I’ve improved my organisation, time management, and report‑writing skills through managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and supporting senior surveyors. Overall, the apprenticeship has helped me build confidence, technical knowledge, and professional capability across a wide range of surveying responsibilities.
