Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Costa Coffee?
Working at Costa is something that keeps me constantly on my toes. I get to meet a lot of new and interesting people and work with them. I have also trained a lot of people which I do enjoy and I have helped people evolve within their roles but also I would like to think outside the job. I find that I have also grown myself through the experiences I have had.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Some of the main skills are time management, people management, and communication skills. I think the one I do enjoy the most is the overall management that comes with the job role, organising the shifts, organising what needs to be done for the day and then instructing the team but also letting them make their decisions in order to make the day as best as possible.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
although I have to manage the team, I am also part of them and I think that is why they do not see me as their "boss" but as someone they can learn from and get advice from which makes me and them feel valued.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
3/5
There are times that I feel that I am doing a lot of extras, just because we are a performing team but at times there is not enough compensation regarding the lengths we go or what we do.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
Overall it is a good role to gain skills that can be used in different jobs or if I wanted to move further up the business but I also feel that sometimes I am stuck on my role.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
I find my apprenticeship that I am currently doing is really useful, gives insight in many things that I was already doing, without knowing it, or teaching me new things that I try to incorporate in my job with the team.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
I feel fairly supported, when it comes to answering my questions, or if I need to do some kind of work for example. The reason I put 4 though is that at the moment I feel like I have been given some extra responsibilities that take away from my apprenticeship time and I find myself struggling a bit to manage everything
How is your work-life balance?
3/5
Usually I do try to separate work and general life but there are times that even when being off work I am asked to do things for work.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Generally I do enjoy working for Costa, I think they do try as much as I can with the resources they have as well.
How would you rate Costa Coffee initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
Again, I think Costa has improved a lot regarding diversity and inclusion and I find this a great thing
How would you rate Costa Coffee CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
I know Costa tries to push coffee shops to recycle as much as possible and I really like the Costa Foundation incentive they run to help communities in countries that the coffee beans are produced. I do find that inspiring

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Costa Coffee to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Although it can be a bit hard at times, I think working in a coffee shops, and Costa specifically, is a nice environment that teaches people so much, from how to manage yourself better, how to communicate with people better, understand yourself when it comes to limits and strengths so overall people might think that being a barista is easy but there is much more to it than just making a nice cup of coffee.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Costa Coffee?
Be honest, trust the assessment and be confident!
